How Merchant Wallets Work with Custodia

When a company card is added to a merchant wallet, Custodia will receive an individual $0 charge at the time of authorization. This tells the merchant the card account is valid. This is a one-time authorization and once a card has been added, charges can be initiated without re-entering card details each time.

If you’re experiencing issues with adding your card to a merchant wallet, here are a few common scenarios and steps to resolve them:

• Reason: The activity budget may be insufficient, expired, or not matched to the merchant category.

• Solution:

  • Check the activity status and available budget in the Custodia app.

  • Confirm that the wallet merchant (e.g., Uber) matches the activity merchant settings.

• Reason: The transaction failed due to an Address Mismatch

• Solution:

  • Check your Custodia decline notification for implement AVS bypass

  • Reach out to Custodia support if further assistance is needed

💳 Authorization is successful, but Add to Wallet Failed

• Reason: All merchants must adhere to the regulations applicable to their operational area. It is possible that these regulations may prohibit the addition of the card in your region. 

• Solution:

  • Contact the merchant to inquire about the reasons your card cannot be added.
