Overview
If you are using recurring activities, such as monthly or weekly budgets, you can configure them so that any unused balance automatically carries forward into the next period.
This is useful for teams that do not fully spend their allocation every cycle but still need flexibility over time. Once enabled, Custodia will automatically evaluate the activity each day and transfer any remaining balance to the next period when a new cycle begins.
How to Enable Rollover
- Log into the web application
- Navigate to Activity → New Spend Permission.
- Create a new activity and define it as recurring (monthly, weekly, etc.).
- In the tags text area type the value "rollover" and press enter
- Complete the remaining activity details and activate the activity.
After the activity is created you should see that the 'rollover' tag appears on both the bulk recurring activity and any individual activity.
How Rollover Works
Custodia automatically checks recurring activities each day to determine whether:
- A new period has started
- There is an unused balance from the previous period
If both conditions are met, the remaining amount is transferred forward.
Example
Assume a recurring monthly activity for three months is structured as follows:
- January 1 – January 31: 1,000 ILS
- February 1 – February 29: 1,000 ILS
- March 1 – March 30: 1,000 ILS
- If only 500 ILS is used in January →
On February 1, the remaining 500 ILS rolls into February.
February budget becomes 1,500 ILS.
- If 0 ILS is used in February →
On March 1, the full 1,500 ILS rolls into March.
March budget becomes 2,500 ILS.
The rollover continues automatically as long as the recurring activity remains active and the rollover tag is applied.
Notes
- Rollover only works on recurring activities (either individual or group)
- There is no limitation on how much can be rolled over from month to month (no cap)
